What the run is like
The Tara canyon reaches about 1,300 metres at its deepest, which makes it the deepest river canyon in Europe. This trip is the one that takes you through that part. The operator describes it as roughly 36 kilometres, with the day running from 9:30 to about 17:00.
You start at the Tara Kula Raft office or are collected from your accommodation. A jeep ride is part of the day, the boats stop at the Ljutica spring for a refreshment, and the trip ends at Radovan Luka.
Lunch is optional and paid on top; the choices listed are lamb, fish, or a dish cooked under the sač, the iron bell covered in embers that is used across the Balkans. Seven hours on the water is a long day, so book it if you want the river rather than an outing.
